Will the original iPad get iOS 6 and beyond?

Based on Apple's update cycle (3 OSes for a device) will it mean that iOS 5 will be the last major update Apple will push out to the 1st gen iPad owners? (since it went through iOS 3.2, 4 and now, 5)

I get the feeling that because the iPad is still in its infancy - only two versions - and because its hardware is far better than, say, the iPhone 3G, the 1st iPad will get more longevity when it comes to iOS releases. I would say it will stop getting updates around iOS 7 or 8 - once we reach quad core processors.
