Question about
Will the original ATV receive a software update? It seems that all of the software tweaks to this new one are very minor. Any word on that at all?

Doubtful. Although the user interface looks the same, I would surmise that this one is running iOS, unlike the original. (unless I'm mistaken, they didn't mention the OS in the keynote)

I can't imagine that current ATVs can handle the streaming involved. It takes a lot of processor power to stream well, and current ATV hardware is underpowered. The streaming they do is only barely adequate. I can't imagine this upgrade would work well. For what Apple is trying to do with ATV, I'm not surprised that it won't matriculate to older machines. The processors probably wouldn't be able to handle it.
