I recently upgraded to the TiVo HD XL and wanted to give my Series2 to my parents who have DirecTV.
Are the Series2 and DirecTV compatible? Is it as easy as plugging the TiVo in and picking the service provider during the on screen setup?

Yeah, it does actually, my parents have that setup and refuse to go HD until TiVo gets their shit together and releases their new DirecTV box...

If you've got a dual tuner series2 it will only work on DirectTV with one tuner. Other then that, the Tivo works fine with DirectTV. It's the series3 and HD that DO NOT work with ANY Sat provider. The SAT providers will not release their HD Codec to Tivo.
