Wii Speed Slower?

I've run the custom Wii speed test from www.speedtest.net and it always shows around 2Mbps down and .30Mbps up. I currently have a 20Mbps down/2Mbps up Charter cable connection. It shows 20/2 most of the time on my PC and around 17/2 on my PS3. What's up with the Wii.

I've did several Google searches on the subject. Is it an Opera browser limitation, Wii internet hardware thing or what?

I have my Wii connected via USB/LAN to a Netgear WNDR3700 gigabit router and Motorola SB6120 cable modem.

Any insight would be appreciated.

P.S. One reason I ask is because on the Nintendo Channel, when I select High Video Quality, it constantly buffers.

I definitely want to try this on my wii now. I didn't know speedtest.net had a special wii app and I have always noticed the wii internet seems slow considering I'm on a 10/1 plan. I wonder if the wii is just optimized for slower wi-fi like speeds or what......

Very interesting... I had been wondering about the low speed on the Nintendo channel as well, but had assumed it was slow servers on their side. Will have to run this test myself.

By the way, this issue with the stuttering on the Nintendo channel seems to be very widespread... another friend of mine also has the same problem. I have a very fast connection, and still I have to select 'Norma' quality to view the videos.

Thank you both for information. Please check out speedtest.net on the Wii, their site detects you are using a Wii and you never actually see the site, only a picture of a Wii and a Mbps dial/meter I believe it was against a plain white background. I was afraid the buffering was a Wii thing.

I have a very similar issue. I have Verizon FIOS 25/25. I can get 25/25 on my laptop connected wired. Wirelessly about 15/11. With my Wii wired or wireless about 2.7/0.5. I have an ActionTec router and purchased the Wii Lan adapter hoping that the wired connection would be better, but it was the same as I mentioned above. I called Nintendo and Verizon and they tried stuff but nothing helped (Static IP, DMZ...) Would love it if someone could help!
