Why is it so hard to find a decent slider?

I can't type on touchscreens to save my life. I'm willing to pay more for a slider with decent hardware, but they all seem to have the guts of 5 year old phones.

I have a Motorola Flipside with 2.2 and I'm ready to throw it out the window. I can't even update any apps any more because it gives me constant out of space errors with its tiny 256 MB RAM x 512 MB, fixed focus, general slowness, and occasional unresponsiveness.

I looked at the specs for the LG Optimus Slider, but it's specs don't seem much better at all.

At this point I'm so desperate that I'd even switch to a Mango phone if I could find a decent slider.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

If you want to stick with AT&T the clear choice is the Samsung Captivate Glide. The only cutting edge feature it lacks is LTE. If you're looking to switch networks, then the Droid 4 is easily the best slider on the market.

If you are considering going windows phone mango, then I will assume you are not specifically tied to an OS

Perhaps check out the BlackBerry 9810, which fits the slider bill. The keyboard on it is quite nice and BB OS 7.1 has made great strides from the previous releases. However this phone isn't for everyone. If you want to play specific games or have need for certain apps that are not available, then this phone isn't for you. But if what you need is a solid phone and messaging experience, then this may be worth a look.

Its not dual core, but the OS is optimized such that it doesn't require a lot of power. That is why you will arguably get better battery life.

I know that hellish search for a good Android slider, I did have a MT4GS and a unlocked DROID2G. I think the DROID (2G, 3 and 4) family it's your only option, because the Gilde from Samsung feels a little cheap and plastic.

I have got Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 and slider is good but OS(Win6.1) is pretty crappy. I'm also having the same problem of being able to find a good phone/tablet(with docking/keyboard) which can be used to make calls. It seems there aren't too many options in the market.
