Why is everyone complaining about how the Verizon GN can't install Google Wallet when the same applies to the GSM version?

Am I missing something here? As far as I understand, you can only install Google Wallet on the GSM version when you root it and manually install the apk for it.

I think that there was a rumor that Verizon delayed the phone due to an issue with Google over wallet.

It makes sense that Google would want wallet on their flagship Verizon device seeing as the only country (IIRC) with Google deployed is the US. It followed that because Verizon is a partner in the competing ISIS tech, that they would not want wallet on there phone.

Verizon even bothered to put a statement denying the rumor. (news.verizonwireless.com­/news­/2011­/12­/pr2011­-12­-06...)

I actually just assumed that it came with the unlocked Galaxy Nexus since everyone made such a huge deal about it.

Good news! Somebody on the internet was able to scrounge together a nice .apk file for the LTE Galaxy Nexus! www.droid­-life.com­/2011­/12­/17­/download­-google­-wall...

I've got this installed and have already used it once! Great Success!

I think the problem is the CDMA version was not getting it because of Verizon while the GSM version was not getting it because Wallet is not available outside of the US and there is no official US GSM version. Nobody like Verzion saying what we can and can't do with our devices, especially when it in no way effects their network.

The reason why it is such a big deal is that the Nexus phones are supposed to be pure, unadulterated, Google phones, but Verizon interfered by asking Google to not include Wallet and instead filled it with their own bloatware.

Wallet did not come with my GSM Galaxy Nexus either. I installed the APK just fine.
