Question about
Why has the IPOD functionality of my iPOD TOUCH slowed down with iOS 5?
It seems to me that since the iOS update, playlists and library transition times (in particular, smart playlists) are horribly laggy. Anyone else seeing this kind of issue?
That has not been my experience. For purposes of comparison, we have the same generation of iPod. I have almost 60 Smart Playlists (including many that are nested three deep). I do have 10GB for free space on my Touch. Maybe that has something to do with my experience.
In contrast to the Touch, I did have problems with my iPhone 4 - which was syncing with the low res option enabled. Had to clear it of all music, and only sync some static playlists that I manually maintain. I have not re-enabled low res sync; as I never want to have this sort of an upgrade problem again. However, as a consequence, my Smart Playlists don't work on the iPhone 4 because the master lists (which subsequent Smart Playlists are built off of) are just too big for the iPhone 4.

Yes I have been having the exact same issue, but my whole iPod experience is now slow. Even the "Slide to Unlock" is slow and freezes at least once or twice before I can unlock it.

maybe it is because as ios gets updated, it becomes more processor intensive and the older devices dont magically get the new A5 processor :..(
