Question about
why does the sound/voice memo recorder create these horrid *.qcp files
listen i just got this env3 and have 6 days left before my "worry free
guarantee" runs out with Verizon... and im stuck with its problem
ive had nothing but problems trying to get the phone to
successfully do everything its supposed to...
im not going to bore you with the details, but ill just say i guess
its a good thing im the only person seeming to have problems with this
phone, cuz im capable of fixing them and i have already solved most of the problems by now
SO, my point is... the voice recorder in this thing...(you know the
thing that creates new "my sounds" ) seems to save sound files i
record as *.qcp files ( my sound notes and music ideas as they come
to me- absolutely necessary for my music)
and these freakin qcp files wont play in anything i can find that
should play them...other than the phone and the whole point is to
record then transfer them to my computer via micro usb ( pix, flix,
and sounds and music all supposedly easy peazy)
its driving me nuts and no one, LG, verizon, or anywhere on the net
seems to know what the frack im talking about when i say i have a
problem
supposedly i can convert the *.qcp files into something more
standard, but its a pain, i havent gone there yet, and im wondering:
do your phones sound recorders work, and do they record sounds in some
other normal file type ( like a simple, beautiful *.wav file), and if not CAN you transfer them to your pc and
just play them or do you have to convert them from *.qcp files to
something else...
this is all assuming you even use the sound recorder, know what im
talking about, or even care at all...
please dont say just text them to my email...and please dont say just
use the video recorder... i know i know
why does the sound/voice memo recorder create these horrid *.qcp files and does anyone have a workaround...
why doesnt it just record sounds as *.wav files
please help because if i dont get some advice from a fellow ENV3 owner soon i think i might be stuck with this phone that i reallllllly want to make work but just wont...
( speaking of which, if anyone knows if anyone has a LG env3 phone that records its sound notes as a normal file format ( like a *.wav) and not this wretched *qcp file ..... please let me know
at least ive finally been able to get my pc to recognize it though the micro usb cable
I wish we didnt have to put up with companies rushing gadgets to market without proper testing so that they can make profits.....you would all be quite entertained by all the problems and solutions I have had to force my way through for this "worry free phone" i love the calculated-loss-from-support-issues-relative-to-initial-profit-margin ratio that corporations so adore... please help
to bad its so beautiful ( the phone)....oh by the way can we please change the gdgt picture for the env3 phone from that pinkish color to its proper blue-metal finish?? ( id appreciate that mildly)
also, i think this website is awesome... gdgt rules

I don't know if you even still have the phone, but VLC Player is able to at least play the files for me after transferring them to my computer via Bluetooth. Also, Wikipedia seems to suggest that you can simply rename the files to .wav but the file wouldn't play for me in QuickTime Player, for example, only VLC.

LG phones have been using *.qcp files for sound recording for years now, and it doesn't look like that will change anytime soon. I'm afraid that, as long as you have enV3, you're stuck with a stupid format.

You are sooo whiney. I have the env3 and love it. The only problem I have is the one u mentioned with the uncommon file type. Which isn't such a horrible thing as u make it to be. Also I don't see what all these "problems" are that you "had" to work through were. It's a great phone. I'd recommend it to anyone. Except this guy who can't be content with a great phoe that does everything you could ever want. If you're thinking of buying it do it. Especially since they just lowered the price. (FYI I made this account just so I could post this to defend this phone and tell ppl how wrong you are. I absolutely hate making new accounts so this guy has really appeared to be an ass to me)
Sincerely, Matt
