Question about
Who is going to be the first windows 8 tablet maker?
I think it is going to be a game changer.
Samsung has some in development. But other manufacturers will launch too. I suspect Acer to jump on the early rush too
"Microsoft will also be giving out a “Samsung Windows Developer Preview PC” to 5,000 developers" Meaning people will have it before release (Source: www.bgr.com/2011/09/13/microsoft-shows-off-new-win...)
I really wish when I was hands on with Windows 8 at Microsoft HQ in Redmond that I took better note of the tablet I was using

That depends really, we've already seen concepts from HP. Manufacturers are obviously interested in the OS and the new form factors it enables (Lenovo Yoga for example). Also, you can expect to see a range of products from many tablet makers during the Windows 8 launch, just like we saw during the Developer/Consumer Preview launches. I can tell you for sure that there will be many product available at launch. There wont be a "first windows 8 tablet maker" if they all launch together.

Many PC OEMs will be making Windows 8 tablets; both x86 and ARM versions. Microsoft, itself is making the Surface family of products as well.
