Which is the best firmware for i8910 in the market now ?

i8910 has lots of software bugs. I got this phone last week in India. It has an early July firmware. I have noticed bugs like clicking stop button crashes the browser while surfing, java applications are not stable, HD recording is shaky etc...I'm trying to find out the best firmware to flash my device with. I'll update it here and in my blog @ www.websetgo.in.

Meanwhile, please share your opinions on the which firmware serves the purpose and is most stable.

At first when i bought the phone it had IF8 which was not very good, the browser was slow and the sound in videos sucked. Now i have the italian IG2 firmware which made the browser a bit faster, fixed some of its problems (like managing multiple windows) and fixed the sound in videos, but some problems still remain.

I'm waiting for the new italian firmware which is supposed to be a major revision with 3D multitasking and more bugfixes. Samsung says it will be released soon, but they postponed it a few times already.

thanks Georgije. check this site, forums.samsungi8910omnia.com/samsung-i8910-omnia-h....

They have mentioned that I8910ZXIH1 is the latest firmware available. But also, it seems only the Italian firmware is recognized by the PC suite and update software. So I'm afraid to try any of these firmwares.

I also checked with Samsung support in India about firmware update to i8910. They mentioned that it should be available in a months time. However, they asked me not to upgrade the firmware via the update software, as the update software is unstable, and also mentioned while updating if the phone gets bricked they're not covered under warranty. So they have suggested to get firmware upgrades only in authorized service centers.

But I cant wait to get my hands on the new Italian firmware. If its perfect wouldn't mind giving it a shot.

Check out ppcgeeks.com's Omnia forum and www.samsung-omnia.org. You'll find several guys cooking and flashing their own ROMs. They explain how to do it (it's not hard at all) and if you're nervous, they will answer all kinds of questions like this one.

I recently flashed my Omnia i910 up to a base version of Windows Mobile 6.5 and LOVE it. Talk about customization. My phone is faster, battery lasts longer and is way more fun...and useful.

So is it completely impossible to flash firmware on the i8910 using Vista x64? It seems that XP x86 is the only way that will work without bricking the phone.

Has anyone tried the new Chinese firmware with kinetic scrolling in the browser? How is the video recording with that?

Hello again after a long time, i'd just like to tell everybody who doesn't know yet that HyperX makes great cooked firmwares for the i8910, you can follow his latest releases here: www.hyperx-i8910.com/

I'm currently using HyperX V3-17 which is a very nice FW. The most noticeable changes from what i was using before are the much faster (and better) camera focus and the addition of autofocus to videos. And of course there is the kinetic scrolling which is very welcome for long lists, for example in the music player.

Also if you want a great internet experience you should forget about the crappy built-in browser and use Opera Mobile 10 instead, i love it.
