Which 3rd-party USB WiFi adapters work with the original Xbox 360?

It's been a couple years, but I remember you were able to use a smattering of unofficial 802.11 adapters in place of the overpriced 1st-party device. Of course, you could also go with an Ethernet / WiFi bridge and other like workarounds, but I'm looking for a straight up USB WiFi device that's going to work with the console out of the box.

i have been doing the ethernet/wifi bridge route for several months now, it works AND it's a drag having to have my pc not only powered on, but fully "awake" to share the connection. it's such a waste of electricity.

but like you, i am just having the hardest time justifying the cost of the official OR madcatz options. trading my current xbox in and getting a new one sounds like a better "investment" if i'm gonna pony up $80. i've been watching amazon, and even the original xbox adapters listed there appear to have fallen in price, but once you factor in shipping, they really haven't come down at all.

The only third-party WiFi adapter that I know of that will work right out of box is MadCatz's offering:

I know you might be looking at an unofficial adapter, but have you seen the price of the Official one? The price has come down considerably over the past few months.

Unfortunately, as I'm from England I can't say whether the same thing is happening in the USA. But over here the price has come down quite a bit to make it a much more affordable purchase.

I have been using a bridge similar to this one for over a year. The setup was a bit tricky, but once I got Ito pull an address from my router it has been good.

You could use the WET610N. I was looking into getting one, but when I moved the router was close enough to my 360 to not need it. Yay for some saving some money.
The upside is that is work with just about any Ethernet device, the downside is that it only has one port on it.
Here is some link with more info on the WET610N.
