Question about

When Mac OS X Lion comes out this year, could I install it?

I have a macbook white (late 2006) with 1Gb RAM, 120GB HD and Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard.
Should I get more RAM or I have to buy a new Mac?

My guess is that Lion will work on your MacBook, Snow Leopard only requires 1GB of RAM. I would get more RAM regardless, you'll see an immediate improvement in performance.

You have to find out if you have a Core Duo or Core 2 Duo machine. To find out, go to the  (Apple) logo in the upper left, click on it, then click on "About this Mac." A window will pop up and tell you what processor you have. From what I'm hearing from the rumors, Lion will only work on 64-bit processors, meaning a Core 2 Duo and higher. If you have a regular Core Duo, sorry, you'll be out of luck since that's a 32-bit only processor. But that's only based on the rumors, but knowing how Apple rolls, I wouldn't be surprised.

i would definetly up the ram.
I would also guess that you could run Lion on that machine but i don't know if would be worth upgrading to it.

lets say the Lion upgreade is $100 and you are going to spend a few bucks for the memory upgrade i would consiuder putting that money towards a new maching.

But, to answer your question i have not seen anithing saying that Lion would not run on intel machine. i doubt it would run on the old processers as belive they stop supported them with Snow Leapord.

You should be able to install. More RAM would improve performance.

Looks like you'll be able to but you might want to upgrade your RAM. It won't cost that much money and your performance will be a lot better. What are kind of processor do you have?

As Ed Whittle says above, you *must* have a Core2Duo processor. Core Duo alone will not run Lion.
