My self I'm taking off on a road trip an I'm curious to know what do you all take with you when you take off for a weekend trip somewhere and what software or applications?
I am taking my MacBook Air, iPad, my Droid X2 and Sony SLT-A55.

For me it's iPad, Kindle, iPhone... and that's it! Sometimes I take my Canon S90 if I know I'm going to take a lot of pictures, and sometimes I take my Delorme PN-60w for hiking or geocaching.

My DSLR (less so now since the S90 has been good enough -- depends on how light I want to travel). My iPhone 4, my iPad 2, and a portable non-AT&T hotspot (hey, just in case AT&T coverage sucks on the trip). Depending on the trip, I'll also bring my MacBook Pro.

In addition to all that, I have a small gear bag that contains a bunch of various USB cables, chargers, and all the random camera connection stuff for the iPad so I can edit and post photos.

Hah, and nearly the most important thing? This Belkin portable surge protector / charger: www.amazon.com/Belkin-Mini-Surge-Protector-Charger...

As I'm actually on the road right now in Salthill, Ireland, I can tell you exactly what I've got with ME! I brought my Google CR48, HTC Nexus One, and my Kindle. I find it is the perfect combo for pretty much all the web surfing, direction finding, and reading that I do while travelling. Oh and I've also got my Zune HD for my music fix (saves the phone's battery).

A small Brenthaven backpack stuffed with my 11" MacBook Air, some pens, pencils and a good notebook, an Olympus XZ-1, my iPhone, and that's pretty much it! Light and simple, great for a week-end trip.

It entirely depends on where I'm going.

Family gathering? Cellphone, iPod touch, digital camera or Flip, maybe my Nintendo DS if I think it's going to be boring.

Visiting friends? Laptop (Aspire 1410), camera, iPod.

Convention? That's when me and my boyfriend go into total road warrior mode. Between us, we have:

Both our laptops
Nintendo DS (x2)
Digital cameras
Flip
Portable DVD player (for hooking up to hotel TVs)
Portable speakers (for watching stuff off the laptop if necessary)
Mess load of charging cables
Power Squid (for plugging everything in)

I'm not going anywhere but when I travel, at minimum, I take my Air, Droid, S95. Sometimes I'll take my 20D and lenses, etc. If I'm flying I also take my Kindle and my knitting stuff. :)

I usually bring my EVO, iPod nano (the newer model, perfect for running), olympus tough camera and nook. Just got an ipad2 so that will be coming with me. If I need to remote into work servers I can tether via my evo. Nano and iPad use the same cables and evo/nook use the same. That helps cut down on what I need.

I keep it pretty light: my Epic 4G for my media, and the iPod touch for the kids. On a longer trip I'll bring the Macbook as well so I can get work done on the road.

iPad, iPod Touch, and Canon Rebel XT. My laptop is a giant beast unsuited for proper roadtripping, so I live on iOS whenever I go somewhere. Also, I suppose it's important to mention the Black & Decker inverter that's constantly parked on the floor of my buddy's car.

I try to stay pretty lightweight... iPad, iPod Touch, Kodak Zi8, maybe Rebel XS (if I'm in some kind of scenic city for vacation), maybe Kindle (if I'm gone for more than a few days), and that's about it.

Delorme PN-60w SE for hiking, geocaching, and recording my gps track(s) of the trip.
G-Slate - when I need something more light weight than the laptop while about town.
Samsung Vibrant
Canon Rebel T3i + Lenses to take pictures on the way to and from, or once there.
Nook for reading on the way.
iPod Touch
Laptop - To log my finds and get more geocaches, offload pictures of the camera and geotag said pictures :)

Oh, and their associated cables for charging :)

We're travelling at the moment, and between the two of us, we have: Olympus E-PL1, Lumix TZ9 (left my EOS 350D at home this time), MacBook Pro 15", Dell 15", 2x Nexus One, ExoPC MeeGo tablet, Proporta USB battery, plenty of cables to help with general travel, like extendable LAN cables, car chargers and various audio cables for rental cars and hotel rooms.

iPhone, iPad, my Canon S90 always. If I actually have to work I'll bring my MacBook Air. Sometimes my Sprint Overdrive 3G/4G access point (for non-AT&T friendly areas). If it is a driving trip I will also bring my choice in speed control countermeasures - my ValentineOne.

Man, reading the answers here make me feel as though I don't deserve to call myself a gadget fiend. Also pretty amazed at the % of people with mac computers and phones.

My macbook typically doesn't make it on trips with me, so currently i'm sporting the nexus One, Xoom, and my Nikkon S8100. I then just hope I remembered my charger.

Heading to Indy 500, which means sleeping in a field and being surrounded by drunks for a couple of days.

I've been able to get by with just my iPhone 3GS and a generic external battery.

In situations like this, the iPhone camera is "good enough" is you need to capture something.

On the trip, the iPhone sits in a TomTom Car Kit, so I have GPS and music. While sitting around, I have the Internet and the Kindle app.

Also, a ziploc bag in case it rains.

Right now, I take my Nexus S, 11.6" laptop, and headphones. I also take my Nexus One as a back-up phone. Hoping to add an Android tablet to the mix whenever Honeycomb is ready for prime-time.

Pretty standard loadout for me. iPhone, Kindle, and (a rarity) my flash drive for my study materials for a test for which I am studying.

You could also argue that since I have an iPod in my car connected to the head unit that I have that with me as well, but since I hardly ever 'see' it, I don't.

And of course a wall-socket USB charger is a must (along with whatever cables you need to charge your devices). Possibly a 3.5mm AUX cable for plugging the MP3 player into a hire car.

I'd probably take my Macbook Pro, Blackberry Playbook, and my HTC Inspire 4G. Think I would be cover with those three. Inspire for Phone use/Mobile hotspot, and the Playbook for general surfing. Macbook Pro would be if I need to get anything serious done.

When travelling it's always just going to be my iPhone 4 & the iPad 2. They are so light, I have a 3 Unlimited Data plan on my phone and I just link it in with my iPad 2 and I'm set. Also my headphones.
If it's a more Photographic trip add a Canon 450D in there with the Apple Camera connector kit as the iPad 2 can import full RAW files then when I get home use image capture on my computer and just shove them into iPhoto.
And if it's like a long trip and I need my technology the MacBook Pro 13" comes with me but no way I could I walk long distances carrying that with me....

iPhone 4, iPad 2, Kindle 3 and Canon S95 along with the iPad 2 charger, 1 Griffin 4" dock connector cable, 1 Griffin 4" micro USB cable and a spare battery and SD cards for the S95. This all fits in my Tom Bihn Ristretto shoulder bag. I can charge the iPad, iPhone and Kindle using the iPad charger and the short cables. I also have an iPod Nano 6G in the glove box of my car connected to the car stereo media connector.

I bring my PSP Go for music, games and other entertainment while riding in a car. Even though my HTC Aria is a better music player, it loses battery too quickly, so I just keep it for Tweetdeck and calls. If I'm staying somewhere I'll bring my Viao. If I'm there for a really long time, I'll bring my PS3 with a few games.

If I'm trying to go really light I only take my Nexus S and Kindle 3. They both charge via micro USB so I only need to take one charger. If I have space, I bring along my HP EliteBook or Ubuntu netbook and a microUSB cable to charge the other devices.

If it's a scenic/interesting road trip (rather than driving to a meeting or home) then of course the Canon XSi comes along.

My DSLR (Canon T1i) and iPhone (obviously) come with me everywhere. I haven't traveled since getting the iPad 2, but I think that replaces any need for a netbook/laptop to come with me. The iPad should really keep me traveling light...to the point where I can bring a smaller bag.

Phone [HTC Evo], iPad, iPod, headphones, and most importantly, an energizer to-go battery pack that is 8000mAh and the correct cords for charging. I really am interested in a Chromebook, because I find doing anything productive on the iPad is difficult, it is really just an entertainment device.

Also, if there is a chance I'll read any, my Kindle 3.

Canon S95 if I want to take some pictures or Canon EOS 600D if taking pictures is a primary goal of the trip.
Sometimes MacBook Pro if I want to do some work or show pictures to friends / family (via HDMI on a TV).
iPod Nano if I take the train and fear I might drain my iPhone too quickly.
Nintendo DSi if I fear I might get bored.
And of course lots of cables and chargers ;-)
