My lens broke and I have considered upgrading my Rebel XT with the Rebel T3 or possibly the T1i.
The standard kit lens 18-55, is around $150. The thing is the T3 but it's down to $420 on Amazon, a complete steal. I want to eventually move up to a more professional SLR but I am a senior in college with a very limited budget.
How is the T3?
Question about
What SLR should I replace my Rebel XT/350D with?
I have the Rebel T3, it is my first SLR camera, have had some point and shoot digitals before -- my favorite is the Sony H-50. But I like the T3. I have a lot to learn yet, but I've had a lot of fun and have gotten some good shots. I have the standard IFS 18-55 IS lens and also got a cheap telephoto: EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III, I don't know the lens lingo but the telephoto works pretty well for me without the image stabilization but I have to be as steady as I can. The 18-55 lens with IS is very nice and has wide angle, but I have mainly used the telephoto lens so far. Color and sharpness are best in brighter light, at least that is my experience so far. I have been VERY impressed with the battery life! A single charge seems to last forever;-) I don't think you would be disappointed in the camera, especially at that price.
