Question about
dave

What size iPhone 4S are you getting? 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB?

I stumbled across this question on gdgt from 2009 for the iPhone 3GS (see: gdgt.com/discuss/32gb-or-16gb-10x/) and thought it was relevant for today. With iPhone 4Ss (4S's?) shipping, I want to know what size iPhone 4S did you settle on.

Did iCloud influence your decision on going with less storage? Does the 8 megapixel camera influence your decision to go with a larger size? Or are you keeping the same size before?

Less than 32GB?
No way to get by with anything less than 32GB. I have a 32GB 3GS and over half is filled with apps, podcasts, and music after reducing the number of apps and music I carry. I played with the notion of just getting a 16GB iPhone 4S, but it would become a configuration control nightmare to manage the space on my phone. Not to mention I would like to have at least a couple of GBs for pictures and movies.

You have to go at least 32GB if you plan to use the video camera. The 1080p (no you can't choose to just use 720p) takes about 180 MB/ Min (~10.4GB / hour).

i'm probably getting one in january and most likely going 32gb. i have a 16gb microsd in my EVO and it's about half full but i also don't have many apps on it. i know when i get the iphone i'll use a lot more ios apps than i do android apps. the icloud (even spotify) stuff definitely factors into my decision.

I ordered the 64GB size.
Nope, iClould had no bearing on the decision. I don't see iCloud as a true cloud solution, at least not yet. I think the bigger the better is still a good rule of thumb.

I ordered the 16GB model. Any music or video I watch on my old iPhone is always of the streaming variety, plus I own a 32GB iPad 2 for any larger videos or files I might need on the road.

64 GB, managing what goes on a device and doesn't is a pain the ass. With 64 GB, all my music, books, pictures and all the apps I could want are on it (plus all three original star wars movies).

As I stated in the other thread, I think my wife wanted the least-popular version of the 4S: the 64GB white model. I only have anecdotal evidence of that, though :)

16 GB think it would be enough for me. Will use my old phone for music and apps and that way won't use so much space on my new phone.

I ordered a 64 GB white version.

My eventual goal is to store everything that I have on my desktop on my phone. ;)

Black 64GB, ATT (clinging on to my unlimited package) very excited about camera, and I figured more storage the better.. Also, can't wait for iCloud particularly for photo stream and wireless mirroring on my AppleTV.. Surprising how much i use the appletv with my iOS devices...

I use FaceTime almost everyday so the grandparents can watch my son have his breakfast.. Those non apple users connect with him on Skype on iPad, so, holding good clear video calls with the 4S is going to be very handy.. iPad is cool for the big display, but unwieldy when chasing a toddler around the apartment ..

Looking forward to Friday

I'm getting a 32GB. Hopefully I won't run out of space, although I do have 13GB of apps..

i would get the 32GB because of the 1080p video. would like to get the 64GB but would depend on the pricing here in Malaysia (when it arrives, that is)

Hi Dave,
I went with the 16G. I figured since I am also getting a 32G iPad, and the iCloud is going to be available as of tomorrow (I think) I don't need any more than that...

16 GB. I manage what's on it, but by parameters I set set years ago. My 4 is a 16 GB and usually has about 3 available.

Would that be my choice if I didn't have a 32 GB iPad to store "travel" media on? No. I'd want a 64 GB iPhone.

Either 32 or 64GB, if I get one. I'd replace my current 1st-gen iPod touch with it.

Definitely 64GB! I have a 32GB 3Gs and it's at 29GB and there was so much I had to leave out (in terms of music, and videos ala podcasts, TV shows, movies)
