The iPhone 4S is definitely better than the BlackBerry Bold. However, have you considered an Android phone or Windows Phone 7?

It really depends on what you want out of your phone.

Assuming that you enjoy your current iPhone, I'd say just upgrade to the iPhone 4S. You're used to the phone, you have all the apps you need, and there will be no learning curve. To go with the Blackberry, you'll be losing a lot of the functionality and capabilities that you have with the iPhone, Though in exchange, you would get a rock solid keyboard and other Blackberry OS benefits.

Is this a serious question? Of course you should get the new iPhone! If someone gave me a new Blackberry I wouldn't have a single use for it. When you get your new iPhone GET A QUALITY CASE AND SCREEN PROTECTOR! I have an Invisishield and Apple Bumper and my iPhone 4 is in pristine condition for when I sell it after I upgrade.

It's really simple when you think about it. You're buying a $600 device and it's been subsidized by phone companies who charge a lot so plunking down $200 is not a big deal, but protecting your investment certainly is important. Don't cheap out on a $10 case just to save a few bucks. If you hate cases, SquareTrade offers insurance that's cheaper and better than BestBuy or the carriers.

Blackberry?! Really? Dude, get with it. BBM is dying and almost everyone who used to have a RIM device has upgraded to Android, iOS or WP7.

It depends on your profile.

BBs strong points are:
  • If you have BES in your company and can have your device connected to it and you do a lot of email and filing the get a BB. This is the best to go with BES+Exchange. Try to file an email with Exchange+iPhone/Android+hundreds of folders..
  • If you manage a lot of contacts the scrolling with your finger to have the right one is a pain. Few letters for the first name and few one for the last name should get you right were you need really faster. The keyboard is a killer feature. And remember the keyboard is the interface. The screen is smaller but compared to a touch only device with virtual keyboard you have a lot more screen estate. The best for screen estate is the Torch when open you have the keyboard+decent size screen. One last thing keyboard shortcuts lets you be done really fast at basic tasks. A speed you never have with a touchscreen.
  • If you write a lot of email or text and you are faster with a physical keyboard.
  • If you have lots of friends on BBM.
  • If you are away from a power outlet for a long time. The BB have spare batteries with external chargers. Meaning if you have a charger for each battery you can go on the road with 3 batteries on a trip without a single charger. More likely you will be free from any worry for endless days. It's funny how a basic thing like removable battery become a feature :-) The thing of greatness is the bundle with the external charger. Having a spare is great but having to manually manage charging the batteries with you phone which is basically your only charger is a real pain.
  • Security no jailbreak so no software like flexispy. Even if it is running on you BB checking the installed apps let you see it. I mean it won't be hidden.
The iPhone:
  • Great for multimedia if you are ok with iTunes
  • Great for multimedia meaning this time TV apps and video apps
  • Better for GPS particularly onboard ones
  • More apps
  • More games
The baseline is the BB excels at few stuff and is lacking at others. The iPhone is a great all around device it won't really excel at anything but the experience is great.

If you have bought a lot of apps it would make more sense to keep your investment by getting an iPhone 4S. Anyway both devices are great I use a BB 9900 as my main device and an iPhone 4 for taking pictures, tracking myself during sport sessions with music, gps

the answer is really dependent on how you will use your phone. i'm an apple fanboi...i've got the whole laundry list covered...iphone (used to..), mbp 15", mba 11", ipad 1 + 3G 32GB/64GB, iMac G5 17"...the list goes on...but i've jumped ship to using RIM devices for a couple years now, and every time i'm asked, i simply point to my blackberry's QWERTY keypad, which is really the only reason I made the switch. I had grown out of playing all day on my iphone, and was looking for a better messaging experience, hence the switch.
if you are attached to any of your iphone apps, the switch might not be favorable for you, but if you find yourself simple messaging all day, then a blackberry device isn't a bad proposition at all.
