What's the best place to buy a TV like this? Amazon? Best Buy? I live in LA.

Also, when is this going to get upgraded?

Amazon - hands down. Their price will be competitive, and they'll deliver the unit right onto the top of your TV stand, unpacked, and take the packaging away with them (if you want.) It's like a magic service where you push a button and a TV appears in your home, ready to go.

I've bought 3 HD TVs from them over the years (one was a gift for my parents) and the white-glove service was great, every time. Plus no tax, depending on your location.

Costco. They automatically double the warranty and if you hate it 88 days later, you can return it no questions asked. They probably have the best price as well. One caveat: you have to transport it yourself, as it won't fit in the Tesla.

Amazon. Jason you should know this, especially if you are still posing the question at parties "Do you use Prime?"

Costco! That's where I bought mine (Same TV). Doubled the warranty and a 90 day return policy. And a better price than Amazon.

I've purchased a couple of TVs and a few other things from Butterfly Photo (butterflyphoto.com) and been pretty happy with them. Their move is the take the order online and then call the next day to "confirm" the order but the call is really just to pitch you all kinds of stuff - warranties and accessories - that you probably don't want or need. I order, they call, I decline - over and over while they confirm my information. Their prices always seem to be pretty good and I've never had any delivery problems or anything. They're based in NJ, I think, and I'm in San Diego.

Somewhere you can haggle the price. Usually if the reps make commission you can haggle. I've bought my last 2 TVs at HH Gregg and have talked the reps down a few hundred dollars. Last one was sticker $1299, I got it for $1000 even after tax. If you are not a haggler, Amazon.

I have the 46inch 8000 and i bought it from Amazon. they were the cheapest i could find. i spent time shopping at best buy and fry's and a few other places to see the TV and compare it to others but my final purchase was through Amazon.
Amazon - if you are prime, Free shipping. You also get out of paying sales tax and they have a large list of sellers beyond just themselves so it more likely they will have in Stock.

Costco - usually have good prices and and a good return policy.

If you ever make it to Phoenix, AZ, check out Best Deal in Town in Tempe, Arizona. Definitely the best deals you'll find anywhere. Nice guys too. Got my 47" Vizio for $399 when it was $650 most other places. www.bestdealaz.com
