For me, it depends on what you're going for. 3.5-4" screen phone, 7" tablet for on the go, 10" tablet for the home

I want the iPhone 5 to be 4", but I doubt that. They can do 3.7" and still be "retina". So, I guess I'll say 3.7" + 9.7".

highly subjective, but having used various screen sizes...
4" is the perfect phone size
ipad thru xoom size screen is perfect for a tablet (9-11")

After using the Galaxy S II for over a month, I could go a little larger and still be very happy, but I don't see any need to go any smaller. Other 4.3" phones are thicker and heavier and I think are turning people off of that size feeling like a brick in their pocket.
Personally I don't see the use of a tablet for myself, so maybe my answer doesn't apply here, but for me the answer is a 4.3-5" phone and a 12-13" laptop, with an optional desktop in the office for serious work and serious gaming. A tablet would create some serious redundancy.
But I have to agree with blastrmaster that this is all very subjective. It all depends on what you do, how you spend your time, and what you want from your technology. Choice is good!
