I use Whatsapp www.whatsapp.com/. Available for BB, iOS and Android.
It's not SMS but a messenger app. (can share photos, videos, etc. as well)

Not sure sure if they have an app on BB or not, but I use Google Voice, you have a different texting number, well unless you have sprint (which I do) but it works just the same.
