What's the best netbook for Ubuntu?

I want to have netbook, where battery stands at least 4 hours, and is solid that I can carry it with me everywhere. Not necessarily 3G, because I can tether it from my phone.

I have had good luck with Ubuntu on Acer gear in general in the past. They tend to have fewer quirky pieces of hardware than other brands.

The first generation of Sony Vaio netbooks is great, because of their added screen resolution.

I've tried it on the traditional 1024x600px netbooks and had to go back to windows on those.

I don't know much about Edge 11 and Ubuntu, but here I'm on 10.10 with Edge 14 and battery life sucks compared to Win7 and as far as I get it's thinkpad_acpi to blame for the lack of support for newer Edge series models. So please keep in mind to google around regarding the current state of things before you make your final decision.

So, I bought this Samsung NC110, and installed Ubuntu 11.04 there. Everything works out of the box, wlan and multitouch in touchpad for example. I get solid 7 hours with battery, so happy with that too. Only drawback is screen brightness, which I can't control, it is always lowest. It doesn't matter though, when this netbook has matte screen.

So I really recommend this netbook for everyone who wants to run Ubuntu on it.

Any netbook should be fine, as long as it uses the normal N or D Atom processors. I've heard of some issues with AMD Fusion, but those should be worked out by now.
