What's a good starter microphone for podcasting and making videos?

I've heard the snowball mics are good. I'm looking for a quality one that is affordable.

When one of my good buddies was lost trying to figure out the best podcasting equipment, I sent him here: www.macworld.com/article/135846/2008/10/podcasting...

It has a list of some of the better stuff on the market for an amateur podcaster, and it includes some helpful tips to get you started.

The Blue Yeti and Snowball Mics are excellent. I use the Yeti Pro and enjoy excellent sound quality for our shows.

I have purchased both the Yeti Pro and the Yeti and can say that I am most impressed with the Yeti considering you can pick one up on Amazon.com for just under $100 bucks these days. Awesome sound quality, easy to set up and great design. The only reason I recommend the Yeti is because of the $150 you will save and most people don't need the XLR output option.
