What's a good messenger bag that you use daily? (To hold gadgets + books? + binders?)

I'm looking for a good messenger bag that I can use daily to hold my things: MacBook Pro 15" on occasions, several textbooks and ring binders as well. I might get an eReader as well later on , but basically the bag should be quite spacious and durable.

What are some brands and models that you guys can suggest?

Timbuk2 is a common recommendation - I find it's also quite hard to go wrong with STM: www.stmbags.com/

If you're that proudly-Apple-toting, BS-spouting hipster-wannabe-pr-artist-type in line for a punch to the face from me, then you might find Coteetciel appealing: www.coteetciel.com/

Acronym - the height of douchery, but this is my kind of douchery: www.acronym.de/collection.php?id=11

You pair the modular bag, accessories/storage (which you mount onto the modular bag) and notebook sleeves. Some of the technical features of Acronym wear being demonstrated, including the quick-adjust messenger strap: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJJtyOvmYGQ

I'd also beware of carrying too much on one shoulder - once it gets beyond a notebook, a large textbook and your daily detritus, I'd start looking at backpacks.

Bags of my own choice (beyond Acronym, one of my own choices) are probably out of the range you'd be looking to consider.

I absolutely love my Timbuk2 bag that I bought last year. So much better than the backpack I had been lugging around before.

I was looking for this exact same thing a while back and settled on a Timbuk2 messenger bag.

Specifically, I got the D-Lux Laptop Messenger Bondage. (seen here: www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/messenger/messenger-l...)

This thing is pretty freaking sweet. It has an internal velcro'd pouch with these little airbubble bumper things inside that cushion my computer. If you get the Large size it can accomodate upto a 15" laptop - perfect for your Macbook. It also has 4 or 5 more inches of width inside the bag for my binders and college textbooks. It's pretty much the perfect bag. It's made out of ballistic nylon, it's water proof, and has a bunch of pockets for pins and stuff.

Honestly, before that bag, I had another Timbuk2 bag, and they're pretty much the only company I'm ever going to order a messenger bag from. Unfortunately, I had to get a leather briefcase so the Timbuk2 bag won't get as much use until school starts, but they really are the best bags I've ever had.

You can make your own bag, and they have a BUNCH of styles to choose from.

Happy hunting!

I have the medium sized Timbuk2. I use it for everything... I got it specifically for the motorcycle and it's been great. It has held up to all sorts of weather and general abuse.

You would need a larger size than the medium for the stuff that you are looking to carry.

I've also heard good things about the Bag of Holding sold at ThinkGeek. ;)

I've been using Crumpler's Considerable Embarrassment for quite some time now, it fits my usage but I don't think it fits yours. However, the bigger Dreadful Embarrassment is practically the same design with more space. They are highly durable, waterproof, and quite comfortable to carry for some time.

I have a big old Timbuk2 bag, big enough to hold a 17inch macbook pro. While it's great for carrying my laptop, even though it's a big bag it really doesn't hold much other stuff. The dimensions don't work for most items sadly, there have been several times that I get a package at work, and it doesn't fit in my huge bag, so I'm looking awesome wearing my huge messenger bag, and carrying a not so large box.

If you are planning on carrying that much stuff in there, I would suggest a backpack, or some kind of pack mule.

I've used a Booq product for a while and was pleasantly surprised with it. Despite my constant travelling with it it has held up quite well. It's a bit on the higher side with price but the build quality is great for a fabric bag.

I recently switched over to a STM bag though since I wanted something slightly smaller and am also loving it. Quality is fantastic and it's much cheaper than a lot of the other more popular name branded bags.

I don't yet own one but I will soon be purchasing a Timbuk2. Like the others that have mentioned it, it would really serve my purposes well and it's a very comfortable bag, at least to me.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Scout Small laptop shoulder bag from STM (I'm sure the large version would be just as awesome): www.stmbags.com/catalog/laptop-shoulder-bags/scout...

I carry it with me daily for my Macbook Air and my iPad. It's very durable feeling, protects each device well, and it has a good number of pockets to also carry everything else I need (Chargers, pens, notebooks, folders, and my external HDD). Love this bag and I'd definitely recommend it!

I've been using a Tumi Alpha Bravo bag for about a year now and it is incredibly durable. I use it everyday and it still looks new.

The size is ideal for a 15" widescreen laptop and a couple other items, but it might be a bit too small for several textbooks and binders as well as a laptop.

Sounds like you have a lot to hold for a shoulder bag. Timbuk2 has great bags. As an alternative to what has been listed so far, I love the handcrafted leather bag I got from Fullgive on Etsy.com. The leather maker crafts bags to your specs using recycled leather and hardware including zipper pockets, pen holders, internal compartments. A bit more stylish and a conversation starter

well i've got an eastpak bag and it's quite good, but inside it's just open space, it isn't divided so i think it's not the right choice for you, but give it a look :)
