What is your favorite iPad Case?

I was not impressed by Apple's iPad cover, so I got a Dodo Case ( www.dodocase.com/ ) instead for my new iPad 2. I love it and highly recommend it. What about other iPad users out there? What is your favorite way to protect your iOS tablet?

My favorite iPad case is not a case at all, it's a carbon fiber skin from BodyGuardz and a screen protector for the front of the device from BodyGuardz as well. I don't want the added bulk of a case (I only have the smart cover for travel) and I like to be able to dock my iPad.

These skins do protect it completely from scratches, but not from drops.

My favorite is an incase origami case. It is a sleeve that can fold into a wedge shape for convenient desktop use between my keyboard and monitor. Of course it barely sits on the desk, I usually carrying it to my service calls.

I've had a handful and keep coming back to the simplicity of the iKit Carbon.

It's just a cover for the back. I carry my iPad 2 in the Brenthaven Switch satchel... er, murse.

It's the perfect combo. Both on the go and around the house, the back is protected from scratches and minor shocks. I trust that crazy Japanese glass Apple uses to protect the front. And the man-purse is for travel.

The main case I tried and rejected was Speck's PixelSkin HD Wrap. It features a tri-fold cover, like the Apple SmartCase + a handsome iKit Carbon-like cover for the back. Problem is it was crazy heavy. Also, Speck uses a sticky strip to keep the thing closed, instead of magnets. It was an almost immediate lint-magnet. Returned to Target.

You will laugh - the Gumdrop "Drop Series".

Yes it's bulk and heavy. But you know what? As slick and cool and thin as the iPad2 is?? I really did NOT enjoy holding it. Too smooth. Kinda slippery. The edges were sharp and would dig into the creases of my fingers while holding it for any length of time. So I bulked it up a bit with this case. Yes, it's much thicker now and heavier. However, it's much easier on my hands, it's much more grip-able, since there is now a ridge around the front area of the iPad2, it's much easier to hold it WITHOUT my fingers creeping onto the screen/touch area.

Don't get me wrong. I love the iPad2 naked. It's awesome looking. Amazingly thin. But after using it for a couple of months that way, I really needed to be able to grab/grip it better. This case puts more meat on it. For some people it's not something they want. I really like the case and beefy as is it.

My wife got a "Book Book" for me from "12 South". She ordered it over the net and all is well. I thought that the zipper would become a problem. It is NOT a problem so far and It is being used constantly. I have added a couple of small pieces of velcro to the inside so it that the pad doesn't slide out when I open it in the dark which is just about every night. I have had it for about 3 month and I am very happy with it. A sales person from Verizon showed us hers when we got a WiFi unit.

Doesn't the Dodo add too much weight to the whole thing?

I was thinking about getting a Gelaskin for the back, a screen protector and a Speck's Clear SmartShell Case.

Disclaimer: I don't have an iPad. That said, the Dodo Case and the Minot cover are my favorite ones that I have seen.

I always buy my cases from vaja - you can choose from a sleeve all the way through to harder protective cases. Just avoid anything with naff crystals...
