Question about
What is the best way to speed up my computer?
I just put in a Seagate Momentus XT to try to speed up my computer and it didn't do much. I don't want to spend for an SSD. Got any other reccommendations?

The best way to speed it up is to do a clean install of your OS.
If it still isn't fast enough, add some more RAM. It's quite cheap and easy and will work wonders

EDIT: sorry I didn't read your question right. Adding RAM would be the best thing and doing a clean install. But still, consider an SSD. The one I bought was 140 euros (I guess you can get it for 140 dollars over there).
I recommend adding RAM and an SSD. I have a MacBook Pro 15" (mid 2010) and bought 8GB RAM. While that made it noticeably faster I still wanted to try out an SSD-drive. A friend of mine recommended it as an upgrade over any other. That was last year. This weekend I bought a OCZ Vertex 2 120Gb SSD and did a clean install of OS X Lion. I must say I'm REALLY impressed by the speed after the SSD upgrade. Before it was also pretty fast but now it just soars. Get an SSD. Pronto :p

1. You could install more RAM 2. You could clean out any unnecessary programs, OS's or files. Personally I would go to number 2 because its cheaper and is easier. Overall your last resort is more RAM.
