I ask this only because it has been years since the iPod Classic line has been updated and I currently own a 160gb version.
For as "low tech" as it is now I still use it on a consistent basis due to its capacity and battery life.
I am now getting to the point where I have to delete old music to add new and I'd rather get a higher capacity model which Apple seems to not want to put out.
Is there ANYTHING out there that offers a pretty intuitive UI, battery life, and a considerably higher capacity??
Question about
What is the best stand alone MP3 player out there today?
Unfortunately, the only MP3 player that I was able to find that is bigger than the iPod Classic is the Archos 5 and that is definitely not a standalone player: reviews.cnet.com/tablets/archos-5-internet-tablet/...
There is another option, though. If you need more space, convert to an Android phone (if you don't use one) or wait for the Samsung Galaxy S Wifi (www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxyswifi/gs5/g...).
I know I said you need Android for this, but only because it's a more intuitive experience, and you'd have 3G. However, Google built a pretty good web app for Google Music and if you have an iPod Touch or an iPhone you could stream your entire music collection over the internet to those devices as well. (If you need a Google Music invite, let me know).
Hope this helps!

No idea if this is actually worth the money, but it is probably the best sounding standalone MP3 player out there.
