What is the best media player on the market right now?

I currently have a HTPC running XBMC in my living room and have been wanting similar set up in my bedroom without the need for a full fledged pc. I saw that Plex now works on GoogleTV, as well as Roku, with a true market app but I know the GoogleTV reviews have been less than stellar.

The Boxee Box has always intrigued me but when I used the desktop software I didn't find the interface to be too great plus the apps like Netflix were pretty lackluster. Have they improved since the device & software have picked up a lot of speed?

Then of course there is the super simple AppleTV but I haven't done enough digging to see if I could make it work with a DLNA client or Plex.

If you're fully entrenched in Apple's ecosystem, I'd say the Apple TV is the best option since you can push things via Airplay. If not, then the Roku is definitely the best option. I have the XDS and it can stream media from all the major streaming services, Amazon, Hulu and Netflix for video and a variety of music services. All wrapped in a easy to use interface.

The Plex app for the Roku works flawlessly and is awesome, best thing about the Roku is that the UI is consistent across all apps, unlike the Boxee Box. I was setup in no time with all my downloaded content. There are problems with formats though. If you have a ton of DVD rips in video_ts format then you won't be able to play it with Plex (the Boxee Box can play these without conversion). I haven't done a thorough test of formats, but if you rip, but don't convert DVDs, then it'll take some time to convert the content.
