I commute up and back from SF daily on Caltrain. I currently have an AT&T phone that gets decent signal on the way up to work in the morning, but in the afternoon I'd be lucky to load a couple of web pages. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with other carriers?
Ultimately I want to get a wifi device so that I can get my Xoom or laptop online for my commutes, I would prefer 4G speed, but being able to connect at all would be a requirement.

I have had pretty good success with Verizon's Samsung Mobile 4g Hotspot, gdgt.com/samsung/4g-lte-mobile-hotspot/ The performance is worse on the way home, or maybe I'm just sluggish in the morning and I don't notice the sluggish speed of the internet.
The only real issue is the tunnels, drops your connection every time. I find it more obnoxious on the way back to SJ.
