Question about
What can I do if an installation of MAC OS X Software freezes up towards to end?
Ever download something, go to install it.. It zips to the end so you think it's perfect and done. Then it gets to about 95% and just hangs there for hours and hours on end?
I've found the answer. I'll keep this up because It's amazing to know.
I was downloading and attempting to install Apple XCode just now, and it just hung around 95% completion, and nothing happened for a ton of time.
I did some research and it clicked, I've done this before. Some main installation files are slightly broken. But within the "Package" there is always a base .mpkg that will run in the original "Installer" rather than this spiffy app specific installer that came from the Mac App Store.
Right-Click on the APP icon itself -- Select "Show Package Contents" -- Navigate to "Contents" -- Navigate to "Resources" -- Find the SAME-NAME of the app with a .mpkg at the end.
Usually this method works by using the UNIVERSAL INSTALLER versus the "App-Specific Installer" that comes with some apps these days.
