Question about
Webcam inexcusably dark - Any official fix for this?
I've half-heartedly browsed the interwebs over the last 6 months or so looking for an 'official' solution to this problem, but haven't heard anything new since Engadget posted about it [ www.engadget.com/2009/02/26/hp-promises-fix-for-mi... ] back in February.
Does anyone know of anything new from HP since? My casual Google-searches have yielded hacks and fixes from other frustrated owners, but nothing official from HP. I'd prefer not to get dust inside my screen, as apparently happens if you fix things yourself by removing some dark film from the camera. I'd also prefer not to void my warranty, just because I'm paranoid like that. The webcam isn't something I use often, especially since it's pretty much unusable in its current form, but I'd still like some kind of fix for it. Anyone know of anything for us lonely Mini owners, or are we old news in the face of the Mini 110 and Mini 5101 hotness?
I adore my little netbook, and I try to give HP the benefit of the doubt, but 6 months without a remedy for this (and the long, slow wait just to get that darned VGA adapter onto virtual shelves) has me losing faith.

HP will take them back and remove the film for you, but if your warranty is already void go ahead and search for the do it yourself post. Everybody here should check out the www.myhpmini.com/joomla/ forums search and get some official fixes.

Sorry no official fix that I know of. I just pried open the screen bezel and used tweezer to pull out the dark film. Camera works great now.
