Be careful if you are trying to update the firmware and you are on a Mac. The firmware updater can cause a kernel panic (a message shows up telling you to turn off your Mac and restart in 4 different languages), and if that happens, the NEX is BRICKED! It's done for, and had to be replaced by Sony. It happened to my friend. Safest way to update is to do it on a Windows machine. Be warned if you're a Mac user!
