volume control on 3G

Does the volume control work on the iphone 3G? I can't get mine to work if they do, but somehow I vaguely remember that the volume might only work on the ipod touches? Is that right?

Volume does not work on 1st-gen iPhone, very disappointed! Additionally, the rubber sleeves on the cords just beneath the earphones have come unglued on mine after only a few months of use.

Very disappointed that the volume controls don't work on my 3G. I bought them thinking that the controls would be updated in the 3.0 firmware update (surely they would, why wouldn't they!) But apparently there is some physical hardware issue that is different on the headphone port to the touch and 3GS that is not there on the 3G.

Good headphones though, but I think my headphone jack is coming a bit loose with the amount of unplugging and plugging in I am doing.

Hope they last!

Side note: Apparently, you have to keep your ears clean for these to serve their purpose....

And, FYI, if you want to buy new tips for them, you're out of luck. Apple does not sell them.

BUT, they did swap out the earbuds themselves for an off the shelf new pair. So, props to them for that.

You can still use the play/pause button and the built-in mic with the iPhone 3G

I've had these for about 4 months or so and the right ear started to die on me. Additionally, the mic seemed to stop working intermittently. Luckily, I brought them into the store and they replaced them on the spot. One quick note, the store (or at least the one I went to) will only replace what you bring them. So if you want them to replace all your extra earbuds and such, bring those into the store as well. Also worth noting, the store didn't even ask me for my credit card or receipt. The woman did ask if I had my receipt and I said "no, but I do have the credit card I purchased them with." She seemed fine with that but she never even asked to see it.

So long story short, they aren't the greatest product in the world and I'm a bit disappointed in the bass response but at least their customer service helps make up for their shoddy product.

FYI - The mic, skip, play, pause, and volume also work on my UniBody 17" MacBook Pro

I assume that these work on the 2G iPod Touch? I've got some other in-ear headphones but might grab these instead as I really like the white look which I can't get on other headphones.
