Volume Button

Anyone else find that you have to hit the volume button a little harder than you used to?

I picked this remote up a few years ago ($129) and love it. However, lately the volume button is fading. You have to really use some pressure to get it to go.

Anyone got any tricks for addressing this issue?

If you call Logitech and tell them the story they'll hook u up with a 50% off coupon for another remote. Then what to do with your old one right... looks like the going rate on ebay is 35 to 50 bucks.

Ive been having problems as well. Some people on the AVS forum have had luck with opening up the remote and using a cue tip to clean the button contacts. I tried this the other night and no luck. So I just reassigned the volume buttons elsewhere and all is well.

I haven't had any problems and I have had mine for several years. Take it apart and see if anything is stuck in it.

I have had mine for about 2 years now and mine is starting to go too. I also got mine for $130 which is still a deal now so it doesn't bother me too much.

Same problem here. I have had it for about 2 years now. It started acting up about a month ago. Might be time for an upgrade.

Yup, my volume is going as well. You really need to press down on it to raise the volume. However lowering is no problem at all.

Yes! Also the zero, eight, and channel buttons are VERY hard to press. Looking at the 550 as my next buy.

Stopped using mine a while back for the same reason. Replaced it with a cheaper Harmony model, figure it makes sense if you keep having to replace them :)

Same here, my volume down button is fading. It started going after about 1.5 years after I purchased it.

My Pause button is starting to need heavy presses to work, as well as a couple others. I've had for 3.5 years. Paid like $250 at Circuit City. Great remote, but it seems to be wearing out. Guess I'll crack it open and see about cleaning the contacts.

I got mine in December 2007 - I replaced it last month with a 700 for this very reason. It got progressively worse over the last year to the point that it was unusable. I did try opening it up but theres nothing you can do - its not like other remotes where there are some contacts you can clean, Its a real shame as I loved that remote - the 700 is not as good as it only supports 6 devices but it was a better option than the Harmony One which lacks the coloured buttons.

I can't really blame the remote for the failure of the volume buttons - I blame the TV broadcasters In the old days the volume stayed the same once set. But nowadays, I have to reach for the volume control at every ad break - they are so much louder than the TV programs they interrupt.

so weird. Mine stopped working as well. I am considering biting the bullet and buying the 900. They are on sale for $350 in Canada. Any comments?

A little bit of WD-40 will help. In some cases it may cure the problem. But over time the button will lose its connectivity again.

The 50% deal that Logitech offers sounds generous, but it's disingenuous, in my opinion. They should just manufacture a product that will last for more than two years without noticeable degradation in quality. What they produce these days is lamentably low quality.

my volume buttons are ok, but one of the menu buttons next to the screen is getting hard to press. Too bad, i like this remote and all it can do.
