Question about
Unrecoverable disk error
My unit has a unrecoverable disk error message and will not work. Is there anyway of rebooting the hard drive or does a power off/on automatically reboot the drive? Is there any procedure to follow to try and get around this error?

Power cycling the unit reboots the system (HD). If you still get the error after power cycling you may have a bad sector(s) on the drive.
You can....
1. Call your cable provider and they'll probably swap the box out for free.
2. Open the box a pull the drive out, connect it to a PC, and run something like SpinRite www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm
The second option is only if you have recordings and want to try to save them, and don't mind spending $80 bucks.
Either way if you get the unit working again and can get the recordings off, I'd still call the cable co and have the box swapped out.
