To my fellow Android fans:
Thanks guys!
i'd stay away from samsung based on their poor record. SG1 users were left waiting for a long time for the froyo update. the fascinate doesn't even have froyo yet. i've heard the source code is a mess. samsung botched the windows mobile updated too.

When the Samsung Captivate came out, I brought back the Aria and got that. I was a diehard Blackberry user (9700) and wanted to see if this would make me switch over. While the Captivate is absolutely beautiful when it comes to playing movies on it, as a phone I couldn't rely on it as my primary device. In the in I stuck with my Blackberry.
However I recently purchased the Inspire 4G and love it. I have left Blackberry and the Inspire is my primary device now. I rooted the Inspire which was easy (making the gold card wasn't that hard either), and installed a Gingerbread ROM on it. It works great! Love this device.
If you don't want to wait, I would get the Inspire 4G, I don't know if I would mess with the Infuse due to the problems I had with the Captivate, so I don't know if I would mess with Samsung Android phone again.

Plus the price is right. At $99 on contract right now you will be hard pressed to find it at a more capable phone for the price. The other phones that you are mentioning are likely to be much more expensive.
There are two downsides to the phone that I have seen so far: 1. The battery life isn't the greatest, and 2. The battery door is exceedingly hard to get off.
Good luck.

That said, I really like the Captivate but Samsung have been rat bastards about software updates. Go read the Captivate forums on androidforums or XDA to see what I mean.
