It seems like this is a Ubuntu-based Linux OS with NBR installed, optimized for netbooks (Eee PC 900 running smoothly with it), but as my recent comment to the fan page of Jolicloud of Facebook:
"Even though this is for netbooks (assuming so), it works incredibly well on my Lenovo W500. For a person who needs productivity now instead of 5 minutes later (easily comparable, 25 seconds versus 3-5 minutes of Windows 7 booting), Jolicloud is a highly recommended OS to be installed side-by-side to quickly get things... done, whether it's something simple as checking email or Facebook, to writing something crucial for a class or meeting with OpenOffice at your side. Also, HD videos run extremely well and smooth, something I haven't seen before in any Linux build I tried in this laptop. Thank you, Jolicloud, for existing, and continuously improving!"
It does work very well with powerful laptops. Since it's optimized for very fast operations, it's the perfect side-OS to have for very quick tasks, or if you don't want to wait that long for internet access.
Question about
This isn't just for netbooks.
I had the exact opposite experience. It booted in 3 minutes for me while windows takes about 45 seconds.
