The Desire, which I have now, has a pretty terrible battery life and is constantly running out of internal app storage. Also editing search terms or URLs in the web browser is pretty bad compared to the iphone (no magnifier) and would be really terrible if it weren't for a mediocre optical trackball.
The Nexus S fixes the app storage but I'm suspicious of the URL/search entry (no trackball). The Desire HD has the battery problem and again lacks a trackpad.
So how do the new devices stack up (Desire S, Incredible S, Bionic, Atrix etc. ...)?
Question about
There are quite a few desirable European Android phones coming out now: but which of them don't have big drawbacks?
"Also editing search terms or URLs in the web browser is pretty bad compared to the iphone (no magnifier) and would be really terrible if it weren't for a mediocre optical trackball."
That makes no sense. How would a mediocre optical trackball improve things? I also have a magnifier on my Desire and no issues editing test. If it weren't for the bad battery life (which doesn't seem that bad compared to my previous phone, a G1) and low internal storage it would be a perfect device. I actually find I can currently live with the battery life as I'm almost always near a charging source. If I was out and about more it would probably start to grate. The low internal storage is the main irritation and that's been improved on the Desire S.
I'm quite fond of HTC's Desire series devices. They feel nice and sturdy compared with a lot of their contemporaries. I'd probably go for a Desire S if I could justify an early upgrade.
