The Courier lives!?

Engadget [ www.engadget.com/2011/08/26/microsoft-gesture-pate... ] has just uncovered a set of patents for a dual screen tablet (Courier, anyone?). The patents haven't been given to Microsoft yet, but they still show that Microsoft is still obviously interested in this form factor. Microsoft, do it!

What do you think?

If Microsoft would do something like Google did with the Nexus One, then a resurrected Courier would be interesting - especially if they optimized it for business and restored integration with AD (including GPO ans System Center). However, I suspect Microsoft is more concerned with finding the right hardware partner, identifying the necessary hardware to drive two screens while keeping reasonable battery life, and containing cost. This may be an idea that needs some more time on the vine to ripen . . . as mobile processors may need a few more iterations to realize these goals. Oh! And the cost of screens will need to drop so the cost is competitive with other tablets.
