Question about
Poohy

Switch to Android from iPad 2 - BT keyboard repeat bug in iOS is the straw.

I'm looking to switch but wanted to find out if there any Android apps similar (as good as, or better) to:

Day One (not Evernote, I'm adverse to subscription based services!)
OmniGroup apps
Mind Mapping
SoulVer
Pages, Keynote, Numbers
FileMaker
AirPrint (not Google's version which requires going via the internet, why doesn't it support wifi!)
Playback of ALAC files.

Also, I'd be very interested In hearing from anyone who has moved to Android and they prefer/miss/don't like.

I'm looking at the Transformer Prime or a Xoom 2, but the new Prime looks best.

Many Thanks :-)

It's difficult to replace a lot of those apps outright. Many of the apps you mentioned are very, very much part of the Apple ecosystem. Pages, Keynote, Numbers, AirPrint, ALAC, and Filemaker products are all made by Apple.

Here are my recommendations for those apps you listed:
  • I still highly recommend Evernote, which is free, and has great Android apps.
  • As far as playback of ALAC files goes, I've heard good things about the apps andless and AS player.
  • Try Mindjet for Android.
I didn't go through with switching to Android because I had invested too much in apps like OmniFocus and OmniGraffle (which are rather expensive across iPhone, iPad, and OS X), iWork, and Bento, and because my music library contains some 30,000+ ALAC tracks, so it sounds like mine is a similar situation to your current one. I love all of my Apple things, but at times I have been genuinely and justifiably frustrated, as you are with the Bluetooth keyboard repeat bug. Remember when the iPhone couldn't copy and paste, or send picture messages, or multitask? I'm glad I stayed, because I've really been getting my money's worth, though slightly more slowly in some areas.
