Question about
Suggestion for Mac utility to optimize images for web?
Is there a light-weight utility that will allow me to save images for web the same way Photoshop does? The last screenshot I took went from 1.1 MB to 165 KB with no noticeable loss using Photoshop and ImageOptim (PS shaved down around 80%).
PS does a great job, I just prefer not to open it just for that small task.

I have been using OS X since 10.04 and have tried tons of image tools in those 10 years, but I still haven't found anything that is as useful for web optimizing images as Photoshop's (or Elements' as well) "Save for Web" feature, so I have continued loaded up the behemoth for even simple tasks. There have been a few times where I have used Preview out of laziness for a quick crop and save, but, if it is anything that matters at all, I suck it up and load Photoshop. If the main reason you are looking for something else is to avoid the long load time, I think there are Applescripts out there that will move all the plugins out of the Photoshop folder so it will open quickly and a partner script to move everything back after you quit. That way, if you want a quick session, you can open it fast, but it will load everything if you load it normally.

Check out GraphicConverter from Lemkesoft, it's been around since pre-OSX, and has tons of batch processing features. www.lemkesoft.com/content/188/graphicconverter.htm...
Also, check out Automator, you can build a conversion/resize action and turn it into a right-click menu item or a standalone app. automator.us/leopard/index.html
