Question about
Squeeze to Vibrate
So I have a weird bug/quirk with my iPhone 3G: when it's set to silent and I squeeze the phone, width-wise or thick-wise but not length-wise, the phone will vibrate. The "silent" icon will also show on the screen as if I had switched it to silent mode. This doesn't happen when the phone isn't in silent mode.
Any thoughts? It's barely annoying so I guess I'm in no hurry for a solution, but I'm curious to see if anyone else has experienced this.

Mine does so too.. I think its physical fault in silent toggle switch that causes this.

My boyfriend's iPhone does the exact same thing. It's so bad he can't text on it or anything, because it starts vibrating and turning silent mode on and off.

I have 2 recently purchased iPhone 3G (8gb) and just for curiosity sake, I pulled both phones from their neoprene jackets and switched them to the silent mode (the first time either of them has been put in silent mode or the switches used on them). I tried to squeeze the phones both from the sides (just under the silver band around the glass) and from the top/bottom (thumb on glass, other fingers on black logo side) and couldn't get either phone to vibrate. Is it something the phone is supposed to do when in silent mode? Is it a bug/defect that comes from using the silent mode frequently, maybe? I have never used the silent mode on any phones I've had, so this one is way new to me.

I've just had this issue, it got steadily worse over the weekend, so I've sent it back to Apple to get repaired. I'll let you know what happens.
