So with the massive boom in cloud storage, how often do you use a Flash Drive?

Its getting more and more difficult to find spots *without* an internet connection, and I'm finding myself using, say Dropbox.com more than I use any sort of flash drive to transfer files or share them with friends/clients. My flash drives are gathering dust.

All of my personal stuff is syncing through the cloud, but I use flash memory all the time for work projects. It is still the most convenient way for me to do a lot of work stuff.

One thing I rarely ever do now is burn a CD or DVD. Between USB flash and cloud that is Discs are just short of being dead.

I actually use flash drives for media all the time, though not so much for documents anymore. We often play video files on our DVD player using the USB port, and at my last office job I used to keep my music files on a flash drive since we weren't allowed to keep non-work music files on company equipment.

I only use my flash drive is actually for my car's MP3 deck. Since I don't have a smartphone to stream Pandora/Slacker, I just load up the flash drive, plug it in to the USB port in my car deck, and off I go.

I like using flash drives to reinstalled OSes since it's quicker and more reliable than having to burn a CD/DVD. I only do this every few months. Other than that, I use it to transfer multiple gigs of data since it's way quicker than using something like dropbox.

I use Dropbox.com and MobileMe for small documents sharing, i.e. a Word/Powerpoint file and the occasional photo. But nothing yet can replace the speed of my MicroSD card in a USB adapter. A DIY Flash drive of sorts

I still keep my flash drive handy if I need to bring it with me. I end up doing computer repair for friends (which generally ends up being malware removal) and so I keep some tools on my flash drive for that purpose. But then they are out of data so fast, that I often end up having to download new versions of those files anyway.

I also carried my flash drive around with me everywhere when I was still in school. Dropbox and Google Docs are perfect for those sorts of files, and I find that I don't carry my flash drive with me by default like I used to. Now, the flash drive stays at home unless I know I'll need it for something.

I use my flash drive weekly. My Dropbox is good to sync stuff between my computers, but my flash drive allows me to take portable apps on the go, and give and take files easily on computers I may not trust my dropbox login on, or just need to transfer something quickly.

The only occasion where I find myself using it is at work because they've blocked sites for user storage like dropbox, so file movement is either through our slow network through VPN or via a flash drive. I don't carry a flash drive anymore, but I've had to use a coworker's flash drive 3 times this week. In terms of personal use, the answer is never.

Like you, I don't use my flash drives at all anymore unless someone I know insists on not using Dropbox.

I use flash drives a lot less than I used to. I tend to use Dropbox to move data between computers. The last time I used one of my flash drives was when I reinstalled Windows XP on a colleagues PC at work. My wife uses her flash drive at work a lot though. She doesn't have a designated PC so has to be able to take her data around with her on an encrypted flash drive.
