Okay, I know a SMS is 160 characters, but on my previous Verizon phone (Motorola Q) I was able to compose text messages longer than 160 characters, and the phone would automatically break them up into several 160 char messages and send them.
On my Tour (still Verizon) I can receive multi-part SMSs, but can't send them--I'm strictly limited to 160 characters. I am new to BBs, but it seems like I should be able to do this.
Anyone have anything?

SMS > 160 Characters
I also used to have a Moto Q (unfortuanately) and I know what you're talking about when you say the phone would split messages up. Unfortunately CDMA BlackBerries do not have this technology built in. There are two options to work around this.
1. There is an app called Beyond160 that's a buck or two. It will do exactly what your Q did.
2. If you know that your message is going to be a long one. Just send it as an MMS. You can type as long as you want in an MMS.

I don't think its a Blackberry issue, maybe its a Verizon issue. I've never had any issues with my Blackberry (8900) on either AT&T and T-Mobile (recently switched over). I would be able to type out a long message and it would just separate it into however many SMS messages it would take to send the message. You should definitely call Verizon and see if they have a fix.
