Mainly about personal choice on UI at this point, but if there was one technical difference, then it would be Meegos multitasking abilitys.

You could argue that it has more character those other two OS, with a very different setup (swipe to close and all). The feeling that you have what seems to be a one off phone may also cater to you.

MeeGo is once-in-a-lifetime miracle OS. Plus the screen is a little bit bigger cause there is no required 3 WP7 buttons at bottom. But if this is a preview of the Lumia, Nokia is back in a HUGE way...

With the Nokia Lumia 800 phone announced, which is a WP7 sibling of the N9, the customers are left with the question; "why we should even bother about buying the N9". Yes, the wise and easy decision with long term credibility will indeed be to go for the Lumia. However, there are some distinct points where the Nokia N9 shines over the 800; some of them, to list out, are:
- User Interface: N9's interface is one-of-a-kind, and the buttonless interaction model is considered as the best phone interface so far by many experts. So as your daily phone, N9 might be the winner, even though WP7 is not any behind with its UI
- Open-source OS: This one leans a bit on your personal stance actually - is you are an open-source junkie, you might want to go for the Linux-based MeeGo rather than Microsoft Windows Phone. Also, being open source, MeeGo Harmattan (N9's OS) stand a better chance of getting customized OS ports, if you are into that kinda thing.
- Alien Dalvik: Alien Dalvik is a virtual machine for MeeGo (later coming to other platforms) that allows it to run Android applications. Completely seamless support for all Android apps is promised, but it remains to be seen how good it will perform, being a virtualized environment - the VM is still unreleased, so we'd have to wait for its release for further details.
