Since this has a phone function, should I even think of this as a phone replacement or not? It's huge for a phone but it's half the size of an iPad.

Well if you're in the US you're out of luck. Only European models will have the phone feature. Check out Engadget's post about it: www.engadget.com/2010/09/16/samsung-galaxy-tab-los...

It is just so comically large as a phone. I would only use it that way if I had in my earbuds with the microphone. But then people would think I was talking to myself because no one expects to see a tablet acting as a phone.

It can't really be used as a handheld, but with either a bluetooth or the included wired headphone/mic it can be used as a phone. Apparently you can also use it as a speakerphone.

The Galaxy Tab actually does not have a phone function... But, with the Tango App, I'm able to make video calls from Florida where I live, to my cousin's iPhone 4 in NY, and vice-versa.
