Should you put a screen protector on Gorilla Glass?
The biggest screen destroyer in my experience is keeping your phone in the same pocket as keys. GorillaGlass is tough, but nothing is impervious forever. And it's just asking for trouble if you ask me. Eventually there's going to be a weird angle or something where a pointy key is going to poke the screen too far and then disaster.
I have a Motorola Droid and I have never had a screen protector on it, and there are zero scratches on the glass. I keep my phone in my pocket by itself and my wallet and keys on the other side. I have dropped it a few times, but it just dents the case which is pretty substantial on it.
Also, a screen protector should really be called a 'digitizer surface cover' as it doesn't actually protect the screen just light abrasives from scratching the actual glass. If you have a protector on, and you drop it on the wrong surface on it's corner the impact wave is going to propagate through the glass on the thin edge where it's the weakest and crack. That's why most iPhones crack, as they have little to no bezel around to protect it.

That stuff is strong but not invincible. I tried stabbing a Samsung Captivate with a ballpoint pen as well as a metal spoon and it still walked away with barely any scratches. So if you can live with a screen protector, I'd say put it on there just for the extra bit of protection. Some people simply like to feel the glass when they use their touchscreens and don't like the barrier.

- Sticky, gummy surface. If you get the more slick protectors, they have a weird matte finish to it that makes the screen look bad
- Pain in the ass to put them on perfectly (straight, with no bubbles or dust under it)
- Look ugly
- Expensive for what it is

That being said, how much you'll benefit from a screen protector is directly proportional to the condition of the screen on your last smart phone. My thoughts are that, if you have to ask, you should probably get a screen protector. It's certainly not going to hurt.

I removed the last screen protector, a Zagg InvisibleSheild, about 2 months ago and I don't regret it. Did it to finally experience a barrier-free touchscreen since my phone is aging. So far, I don't regret it. No scratches. Much nicer touchscreen experience.
Just want to make sure that I won't regret my decision of not putting a screen protector when I get a new gadget so I'm asking this question.

For a while I had a case that protected the back without a screen protector, but didn't like how it made my phone bulkier and unable to use the dock. Finally I have settled on an invisibleShield by Zagg. They warranty your product against damage for life, the thing can't be scratched, they offer free replacements, and it coveres the whole device without adding thickness.
In the end, Gorilla Glass is a great marketing term, but it doesn't mean your phone's glass won't break. Protect it only as much as you see fit - if you don't care if it breaks, and you can just buy another one, don't protect it at all. If you rely on your device, and buying another one would be a pain for you, then protect it.
Good luck!
