Should I upgrade to the Iphone 4 (not 4s) or wait for the iphone 5? I have a Verizon upgrade so 4 is only $99.

If you don't need to upgrade now, why not wait?

- If you buy the iPhone 4 now, would you mind paying the unsubsidized price to get the iPhone 5 (presumably in the fall) . . . assuming the iPhone 5 is great?
- Are you going to be OK paying a premium for the iPhone 5 (relative to the iPhone 4S and 4) when it ships? Would it upset you to see a "free" iPhone 4 in the fall; or a $99 iPhone 4S?

I know what the Eris is like, and an iPhone 4 would be a drastic improvement to be sure. And a relatively cheap upgrade price is obviously tempting. Have you considering getting something off ebay? It may be a bit more expensive, but you'd save your verizon upgrade pricing for something better in the future like an iPhone 5. I guess it really depends on whether you want the latest tech. If you're not worried about that, go ahead and get a 4 for cheap, it's still a great phone. If it were me, i wouldn't want to use up my upgrade pricing on an older phone that's not brand new and really high end.

The best way to answer this question is to ask what phone you are using now, and what you want to do with a new phone that your current phone doesn't do.
Secondly, if you're going to pay money to upgrade, why pay to upgrade to 18+ month old 2010 technology? If you're going to upgrade, get the 4S model.
If you're thinking about iPhone 5, be prepared to wait at least six months until it comes out, plus however long the wait is after it's released before you're able to actually score one. If the $99 price point for the iPhone 4 is the motivating factor for you to upgrade, forget about getting the iPhone 5 for anything close to that price.

If you can't wait then wait, it doesn't hurt to go another few months to see if something is on the horizon.
