Question about

Should I upgrade my Mac Mini (2010) to Lion before or after migrating data from my 10.6.6 Mac?

I have a Dell Mini 9 running Mac OS X 10.6.6 (hackintosh). I just received my Mac Mini (Mid 2010 release) and want to use Migration Assistant to move over all my user settings, files, etc from the Mini 9 to my Mac Mini. Should I upgrade to Lion first or migrate my data (using Migration Assistant or any other method) first?

I haven't upgraded to Lion, but if I was doing the same thing you are about to do, I would migrate first then upgrade. Migration Assistant has been a little buggy over the years, so I would rather take my chances with the same version, then hope that the upgrade process handled conversion properly. I never use Migration Assistant for my own data as I would rather handle it myself, but, when helping others who want to use it, I get a little nervous. Hopefully, someone here will have actual experience with this to share.

If I were you I would do it after. You never know when upgrades can go wrong and losing data can be a disaster.

I would agree with lanny. Migrate after. Any time I have tried to do a migration in Snow Leopard it has missed something and it takes me hours to get back to normal. However it shouldn't really make a difference which way you do it. If you do it in Snow Leopard make sure you have the migration assistant update installed (It came out a few days before lion). It was supposed to fix some of the issues people were having.
In short my answer would be upgrade then migrate.
