I just discovered that, as of August 12 2009, Nikon has put out a service advisory on this camera:
www.nikonusa.com/Service-And-Support/Service-Advis...
And then stumbled upon this page of horror stories:
forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1034&...
People sending in their working-fine cameras to do preventative maintenance, and instead of the promised 2 day turn around they don't get their cameras back for 3 weeks, and when they do get them back, they're not working. In Europe there's even a recall on the repaired cameras asking customers to send them back because they screwed up the first time around.
I was happy with my camera until I saw this. Now I'm thinking about packing it up in it's box and taking it back to Costco before my 3 month return window closes.
Anyone else have any experiences or thoughts on this?
