Question about
SD card reader not working
My phone has a warning on top that says Removed SD Card, Insert a new one. The card is still inside and not pushed out. I tested if the card is still working with my PC and all data is still intact. The phone on the other hand won't take any cards anymore. Any remedy to this issue?
Posting back regarding 3rd replacement. Same exact problem, the SD card wasn't recognized.
I swapped SD cards again with my friend's G1 and his card didn't work in replacement #3 either, but my SD card worked fine in his original phone.
I contacted customer service again - and although this problem has gone on for 3 weeks, I have to compliment customer service for being understanding. They are replacing my phone now with a different model.
I did ask the rep if replacement phones were new or refurbished phones, to which she replied: "they are like new." So, in other words - yes, refurbished. While researching this problem, I came across many posts from several boards where people had SD card reader problems with their G1 after a software update (1.5, 1.6, etc.) so I'm guessing their 'like new' phone inventory contains a bunch of phones returned for that problem.
So just beware. Definitely contact customer service right away if your warranty replacement is defective. This took a while and was a hassle, and meant a lot of wasted time online chating with customer service, but they have set it right.

I've gotten this error message a few times as well, not sure why it happens. Never found a solution, sadly!

Awww... is it just this phone or is this an Android issue? I'm debating to keep mine or sell/trade it...

My original G1's screen backlight went out, so I requested a warranty replacement phone from TMobile.
When I received my new G1, I got the message: "REMOVED SD CARD. SD card removed. Insert a new one." in the notification area, so I tried my SD card back in my old phone and in a friend's G1 and it worked fine. So no issue with the card.
I called TMobile again and they sent a 2nd new phone, express shipping, at their cost. But guess what? Same exact problem: "REMOVED SD CARD. SD card removed. Insert a new one."
Called them again, and they are sending a 3rd phone express shipping, at their cost and gave me an additional billing credit. If this one also has the same problem, I definitely won't be happy.
Apparently it's TMobile's policy to replace defective equipment with other defective equipment. This is very, very disappointing. The only saving grace is that the TMobile reps have been easy to deal with but this problem has now gone on way too long.
Was your phone original or was it a warranty replacement? Did it work before and suddenly stopped working?

I've had to replace the SD card 3 times. I don't know if the device is destroying the sim card or what, but I will never buy another phone without an audio out. the whole point of having a memory card was to carry songs and photos with me but it's worthless. also the camera is fuzzy and sucks.
