Happens to me all the time. Really frustrating to be able to scroll up but not down (sometimes both directions stop working). I've experienced it on both a wired and wireless mighty mouse. I finally gave up and bought the new magic mouse. The only thing that ever helped the old mighty mice for me was to do some "aggressive" scrolling with the little ball. Push it down and give it a good workout in all directions for a few seconds. I also had a bit of luck with spraying some air around the ball. These tricks might get it working for a while, but ultimately, I gave up. I think the issue is caused by dust (or Cheeto crumbs) finding its way into the ball socket. Good luck.

Same problem. But I can't scroll up. I have tried cleaning it with the ends of paper or business cards. I have turned it over and scrolled the ball on white paper. I don't know what to do.

I wish there was a way to get into the mighty mouse without breaking it. Then I could clean it that way.

I've already used TWO Mighty Mouse. I broke the first one trying to get it open to clean it. The second one started to do the same and I found a way to forget about this annoying problem. Now I'm using my five years old Logitech mouse while the Mighty Mouse No.2 is sleeping in the dark.

Problem solved.

I get this several times a day since about day 5 of owning one. The way I fix it is to flip the mouse upside down and forcefully rub the ball on the desk. It seems to do the job.

Crap mouse. :(

Ive ran into that problem to, what worked for me was taking a thumb tack and scraping around the ball with a fair bit of pressure. So that solved my problem for a while, then the whole damn ball went dead. so good luck.

I ran across the same issue, no scrolling up or down. After googling it a bit most resolved issue by pressing down on the ball really hard. At first scrolling down started to work but It took a while before scrolling up started to work. My 2 รง.
